How many films can warm the heart like this one

This film is priceless ! Jaques Tati unfolds a beautiful picture of human nature , seen from a very amusing perspective. I believe his vehicle to be an Amilcar: in itself an item of humour and wonder, Everything in the summer holidays, in the South of France is meticulously created. The characters are so real , and itr seals a record perhaps of a very special time, place and a wonderful expression of a variety of folk on holiday in the early nineteen fifties.in France,

@ogamiito your so right...I think a sense of nostalgia is a huge element in Tati's work, and like "Mon Oncle" he closes the film beautifully as a postcard....and that is what his work seems to me in so many ways, a sense of longing for a human existance pre-modern machine age. In "Mon Oncle" he makes fun of modern machines, and his little car in this film is as endearing as a character, created before sleek modern machines, like the old France in "Mon Oncle", so pretty to look at. :-) Lovely.

I feel so nostalgic every time I see Tati's movies, particularly this one and Mon Oncle. And yet, I've never lived in the France of the 50/60's. It's odd, being nostalgic of your parents' youth, isn't it?
Anyway, this is a great classic.
